Today we release the first annual MVP Fab 5 Preseason Wrestling Rankings. We will release a new Fab 5 poll each week from here on out until the end of the regular season. Like our football Fab 5 rankings, we will rank the Top 5 area teams in each division.
Division I
1. Beavercreek – Two returning state placers and 11 returning district qualifiers should make the Beavers the team to beat. 2. Centerville – The Elks have a lot of depth … and Kyle Rose. 3. Springboro – Can the Panthers stay healthy and replace the missing parts from last season… not to mention handle all the adversity in the program. 4. Fairmont – Got two of the top sophomores in the state, and a strong blend of talent. 5. Northmont – Scott Newburg always finds a way to get the best out of his team. Has two returning state qualifiers to help in the process.
Division II:
1. Graham – Best team in the nation. 2. Oakwood – Returns a strong group from last season including two state qualifiers. 3. Greenville – Will challenge themselves with the GWOC schedule. Strong team, just a matter of finding ways to get one of the three non-Graham spots at district. 4. Eaton – Coach Marc Silvers will have the Eagles in the hunt once again this season. 5. Miami Trace – Returns two state placers.
Division III:
1. Dixie – Returns two state placers, including Ethan Hayes to a strong, deep squad. 2. Carlisle – Returns a state qualifier and will be guided by former state champ Brian Carter as coach. 3. Covington – The Buccs are more than just Aaron DeHart. Covington will have a strong team to compete with the top once again. 4. Versailles – Thomas Fullenkamp returns to pace a Tiger team steeped in tradition. 5. Troy Christian – Ty Morgan will look to continue the Eagles place of prominence this season with a lot of new faces.
