Springfield improved to 5-1 overall and won its Greater Western Ohio Conference opener 28-21 over host Wayne last Friday. Talk about a great game, this one had it all.
After the Wildcats staked a 21-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter, Wayne rallied behind senior QB Braxton Miller (Ohio State) and rattled off 21 straight points in a little over three minutes to tie the game with seven minutes to go. On the ensuing kickoff, Springfield junior George Walker responded with a 92-yard kickoff return for a TD that proved to be the difference.
Also playing big in this game was Springfield senior LB/RB Trey DePriest (Alabama).
