Last year we unveiled and released the inaugural MVP Fab 5 Football Rankings. This year we’re ready for Round 2.
Today we continue to announce the new Fab 5 polls with the release of Division V, where Anna opens at No. 1.
Every Monday throughout the season we will release the new MVP Fab 5 based on the previous week’s outcomes. At the end of the year we will again announce poll champions.
Enjoy…and of course, argue.
Division V (2009 Champion: Coldwater)
1. Anna: The Rockets No. 1? Yep. Gone are all-everything QB Wes Hunsucker and standout WR Derek Billing, but Anna returns what head coach Brian Rioch says is “arguably one of our faster and stronger teams.” There always seems to be a MAC team at No. 1 and it’s Anna’s turn.
2. Lima Central Catholic: The T-Birds won the D-III boys basketball title in March. They have a chance to add a football championship in December. This team is loaded.
3. Coldwater: The Cavs will start the season with a new head coach for the first time in 15 years as Chip Otten replaces former mentor John Reed. The attitude and tradition is there – so too is the talent. Don’t expect this program to drop-off.
4. St. Henry: The Redskins fell in four OTs to Coldwater in last year’s regional final. Although just five starters return from that team, there are tons of players back who got experience last year thanks to several injuries – sophomore QB Kyle Stahl (6-5) is one of them.
5. West Liberty-Salem: The Tigers have been a playoff mainstay with five appearances in the last six years. Expect that trend to reach six in seven with 13 starters back.
