Last year we unveiled and released the inaugural MVP Fab 5 Football Rankings. This year we’re ready for Round 2.
Today we continue to announce the new Fab 5 polls with the release of Division IV, where – SURPRISE! – defending D-IV state and Fab 5 poll champion Alter debuts at No. 1
Every Monday throughout the season we will release the new MVP Fab 5 based on the previous week’s outcomes. At the end of the year we will again announce poll champions.
Enjoy…and of course, argue.
Division IV (2009 Champion: Alter)
1. Alter: The Knights are 55-2 on the field since the start of 2006 with three state finals appearances and two state titles. Until someone unseats them – and it might not happen again this year – Alter is No. 1.
2. Clinton-Massie: The Falcons have a deep, strong and talented roster that equates on paper to arguably the school’s best team ever. Now we’ll see how that translates over to the field.
3. Valley View: The Spartans are led by Akron-bound QB Kyle Pohl and standout RB Jake Jarbo (a transfer from Preble Shawnee). Remember a short time ago when the View was a playoff regular and scored a ton of points? If not –and even if so – this year will look a lot like that.
4. Ottawa-Glandorf: The Titans have quietly put together one of the state’s more impressive resumes with five straight playoff appearances and a trip to the state semifinals last year. The pieces are there for another playoff berth and extended run.
5. Carlisle: The Indians return 16 starters from last year’s playoff team and got a boost from some transfers, including QB Tommy Thacker (from Edgewood). The early favorite for the SWBL Buckeye Division title, Carlisle has aspirations of another playoff run.
