Last year we unveiled and released the inaugural MVP Fab 5 Football Rankings. This year we’re ready for Round 2.
Today we continue to announce the new Fab 5 polls with the release of Division II, where reigning champion Trotwood-Madison debuts at No. 1
Throughout the season on every Monday will we release the new MVP Fab 5 based on the previous week’s outcomes. At the end of the year we will again announce poll champions.
Enjoy…and of course, argue.
Division II (2009 Champion: Trotwood-Madison)
1. Trotwood-Madison: The Rams have more offensive potential than perhaps any team in the state regardless of division. Their entire backfield – QB Marcus Graham, RB Antwan Gilbert and FB Nicholas Grigsby – each owns a D-I offer. So too does WR AJ Jordan. Defensively the Rams are no slouch. Is this the year they break through for a state title?
2. Carroll: After going 42-9 from 2004-07 with four playoff berths, the Patriots are 11-9 with no postseason appearances the last two years. This season a new playoff streak starts. Carroll returns a ton of talent.
3. Edgewood: The Cougars missed the playoffs for just the third time in 13 years last season but they should be a postseason threat again – especially with the return of RB Tony Davis. Levy failures and pay-to-play have impacted the program negatively (players have left) so it will be interesting to see how the system responds.
4. Tecumseh: The Arrows have to replace eight players who earned All-Central Buckeye Conference honors last season, but this program has established itself as a system capable of filling holes – and opening them – on Fridays.
5. Piqua: The Indians 3-7 finish a year ago is not what this program is used to. Expect a turnaround with six All-GWOC players returning.
