In just its third year in existence the Centerville High School lacrosse team advanced to the state championship. It’ll have to wait at least another year to win it.
Despite rallying from a 5-2 halftime deficit to force overtime, the Elks fell 10-9 to Milford in the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association’s Club championship at Dublin Jerome High School on Saturday.
The Elks finish their highly-successful season at 12-3.
During its tournament run, Centerville beat Springfield (24-1), the Dayton Lacrosse Club (16-11) and Orange (12-5) to advance to the state final.
Six Elks received first team All-State honors from the OHSLA, including: Kyle Torpey, Mike Dickey, Corey Luebbe, Connor Hopkins, Jake Carmen and David Reilich.
Those six and Matt Weber were also named All-Region.
Senior Brandon Kiger was named the Team’s Player of the Year.
Phil Browne, Hopkins and Luebbe shared the Team’s Defensive POY honor, while Weber was the Team’s Offensive POY.
On the season Centerville outscored its opponents 197-69.
