Two-time defending Division II state wrestling champion Felipe Martinez has left Graham High School. A sophomore, Martinez withdrew from Graham earlier this week and enrolled at Oregon Clay Wednesday afternoon.
Two possible and rumored destinations were Genoa Area and Clay high schools.
As of noon Wednesday, he was enrolled at neither school. But that changed.
Clay athletic director Mike Donnelly sent confirmation Wednesday afternoon that Martinez did in fact enroll. At 11 a.m. today Donnelly said Martinez was not yet a student at the school.
“That’s news to me,” Donnelly said. “I haven’t heard anything about it.”
Undefeated this past season (38-0), Martinez finished the winter ranked nationally at 140 pounds and captured his second straight state title.
He is considered arguably the nation’s top wrestler in the Class of 2013.
Martinez left Graham for family reasons.
The Falcons won their second national championship in three years this season and also captured their 10th straight D-II state title.
