Dayton well represented in North-South Classic

Thanks to new sponsorship from Under Armour, the uniforms won’t be the only noticeable difference at this year’s Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North-South Classic. In fact, the location is about the only thing that’s the same.
Opening up a new playbook to try and entice a larger crowd and media following, the OHSFCA seems to have scored a touchdown.
The 65th annual OHSFCA North-South Classic – the nation’s longest running football all-star game – will be held April 23 at 7 p.m. at Ohio Stadium and will be aired live on TV by SportsTime Ohio. JJHuddle.com, in partnership with WRSCRadio.com, will also carry the game live via webcast.
Unlike year’s past when the game was held in mid-June and on the same Saturday as the vaunted Big 33 Classic, this year’s North-South game will have no competition for eyeballs or roster spots. Several big name players who previously would have had to choose between the North-South game and Big 33 can now participate in both.
Among those slated to play are Ohio State recruits Darryl Baldwin (Solon), J.T. Moore (Boardman), Tyrone Williams (East Cleveland Shaw), Christian Bryant (Cleveland Glenville) and Verlon Reed (Marion-Franklin). They join a group of double-digit future Big Ten players, including five headed for Michigan and three going to Wisconsin.
Other colleges represented in the game include Notre Dame, Pitt, West Virginia and a slew of MAC schools. Five future Cincinnati players will suit up as well.
The game is also being held under the lights at Ohio Stadium and the day before the annual Ohio State Scarlet and Gray spring game.
The Ohio State Marching Band is also scheduled to perform pregame and at halftime.
