Ohio’s Top 50 Athletes of the Decade: No. 19 Sarah Schulze

Today we continue the countdown of JJHuddle’s “Top 50 Ohio High School Athletes of the Decade” for 1999-2009. Every Monday through Friday from now until March 26, a new athlete will be released.
Today’s entry was a three-sport star and won state titles in two of them…
19. Sarah Schulze, Anna, Cross Country, Basketball and Track & Field, 2003-2007: Schulze was a dominant and legitimate three-sport star for the Rockets. In cross country she won a state title as a sophomore and was state runner-up as a freshman and senior. As a junior she was fourth. Schulze was the district and regional champion all four years in cross country and owns the Anna school record. In basketball, Schulze was first team All-Ohio as a junior and senior and honorable mention as a freshman. She played just nine games due to injury her sophomore year but still averaged 19 points. Schulze scored over 1,000 career points and hit the milestone as a junior. In track, Schulze holds the Anna school records in the 100, 200, 400 and 800. As a freshman she won the D-III state title in the 800 and was runner-up in the 1,600. As a senior she was sixth in the 1,600 and also ran anchor on the Rockets qualifying 1,600 relay. Currently Schulze is a junior on the Ohio State women’s basketball team and to date had started all 30 of the Buckeyes games in which she had appeared. She’s the team’s second leading rebounder.
