Some athletic directors have a tougher job than the others. Put Trotwood-Madison’s James Ladd in the latter category.
“It’s funny, but if one of my coaches does something, it’s big news,” Ladd said.
Having recently dealt with football coach Maurice Douglass and a suspensin during football season, Ladd is now dealing with a suspension of boys basketball coach Mark Baker.
Baker is currently in the midst of missing two games after receiving two technical fouls in a recent game. He sat out last Saturday’s game against Montverde Academy at Flyin to the Hoop, and will miss tonight’s game against Piqua.
Baker will return for Sunday’s 5 p.m. clash with Dunbar at Wright State’s Nutter Center.
Rumors around Dayton had Baker not returning at all, the result of a supposed slur issued to a referee recently. Ladd put an end to those rumblings.
When asked if Baker would be the Rams coach the remainder of the season, Ladd said. “I hope so. As long as he wants it it’s his. He’s done an outstanding job.”
Baker is a former standout at Dunbar High and Ohio State.
