Miami Valley lands seven on North-South Rosters

The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association moved its annual North-South Classic to April 23 this year for a couple reasons but one glaring one – it wanted more talented rosters. It got it.
Having gone head-to-head with the Big 33 game the last couple years, the North-South Classic – the nation’s longest running high school all-star game – is now the day before Ohio State’s annual Scarlet & Gray spring game. And fittingly four future Buckeyes will play in the game, as will a lengthy list of Division I recruits.
The rosters were released Thursday.
Ohio State recruits Darryl Baldwin (Solon), J.T. Moore (Boardman), Tyronne Williams (Shaw) and Verlon Reed (Marion-Franklin) will headline a group of 13 future Big Ten players, including five headed for Michigan and three going to Wisconsin.
Other colleges represented in the game include Notre Dame, Pitt, West Virginia and a slew of MAC schools.
Five future Cincinnati players will suit up as well.
No time has been set, but the organization is looking at the potential of having the game kick-off at 7 p.m. Usually the game is played during the day.
The last couple years, since the North-South game and the Big 33 game have been played on the same day, most of Ohio’s top tier talent has gone to Hershey to compete against Pennsylvania’s best. Not this year.
The Big 33 game also won’t be contested until June 19, so there is no conflict.
